Vancover Video Game Companies

EA Canada
Located: Burnaby
They’re known for Need For Speed, Nhl, Nfl, Fifa. They focus on PC/Console Gaming. Out of all the companies I’ve researched so far EA Games would be my number one I would want to work at. This is because they seem to care about their employees the most. They have a great work environment at their location in Vancouver with a ton of different amenities like an Arcade and a giant outdoor soccer field. They also offer many benefits to their employees, the work culture at this company seems like it would be above and beyond. Regardless if as a gamer I’m not impressed with EA right now because they have ripped off their customers in the past with all microtransactions and loot boxes, I would still want to work there and as an employee and I believe I could better the company.

The Coalition 
Located: Vancouver 
They’re known for Gears Of War. They focus on PC/Console Gaming. 
They’re a Microsoft first party studio who strongly values teamwork. Their company motto is “if you want to go far, go together.” There are multiple roles that they are hiring for and it seems like an overall fun company with a strong dedication to its game Gears of War.

Digital Scapes
Located: Burnaby
They’re known for Dying LIght. They focus on PC/Console Gaming.
This company was founded by industry veterans who came together to create this company that specializes in AAA multiplayer games. They are currently working on a role-playing game called Cyberpunk. A real highlight of working for this company is that you get 20-26 paid vacation days in a year. They also claim to have competitive wages with project based bonuses.

SkyBox Labs
Located: Burnaby
They’re known for Halo, Minecraft. They focus on PC/Console Gaming.
This company was founded in 2011 by three people to over  industry veterans who previously worked at EA games.They've grown from a small studio of 8 to a company of over 200 employees now.They are a company that values respect and trust.

Atomhawk Design
Located: Vancouver 
They’re known for Sniper Elite 4, Injustice 2. They focus on Contract work.
The motto of this company is “We bring ideas to life.” The services they provide are motion graphics, UI/UX design and marketing art. The team at Atomhawk bring all their unique skills together to create the art they do for their clients. All overtime is paid to their team.

How it all started

   Welcome to the story of how I (Devon Litalien) remember falling in love with video games!   I remember as a kid always being very impatient to get out of school so I could run home, grab a snack and race upstairs to my room to play whatever game had my attention at the time. Now I cannot remember what the very first game I played was since I’ve played so damn many but I do remember the very first console I owned was a black original Xbox. Looking back at it now, it amazes me how far technology has come. Every time a new console came out I had to have it, always begging my mom to buy it. Rule the universe Play in a group of 4-6 players  Everyone gets dealt 7 cards The cards are supplycards. Some cards are to help build a spaceship, gun or force field other cards are to help build a complete planet.  You need to have 3 complete planets to win the game. You can only move to another planet to build on once you have built a spaceship.  You need 12 different supply cards to finish a planet  You need 5 different supply cards to build a space ship You need 4 different cards to build a gun And 3 different cards to build a forcefield There will be cheat sheets provided  There is a timer that is used at the beginning of each turn, (30 secs) that’s how long people have to build what they can with the hand they have.
